2014 - Fernando Rubio Perona. SEIDROB award to the best robotic degree project in 2014.

The Sociedad Española para la Investigación y desarrollo en Robótica (SEIDROB) and the Sociedade Portuguesa de Robótica (SPR) convene a prize for the best Iberian PhD Thesis in the field of Robotics for students who have defended their PhD in the period between August 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021.

The prize is endowed with 600 euros for the winner; winner and finalist will also receive an accrediting diploma.

The innovation contributed by the work as well as the experimental validation of the results and the number and quality of the (accepted) publications that have emerged from the PhD that have as authors the student author of the work and the advisor will be evaluated.

2018 - Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez. Best Paper Award – XVIII Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAEPIA 2018)

The XVIII Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAEPIA 2018) is a premier biennial forum dedicated to presenting the latest scientific and technological advances in AI from formal, methodological, and applied perspectives. 2023 - Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez, Guillermo Tomás Fernández Martín, and Pablo Torrijos Arenas. Winner of the G Hack Hackathon – Devoteam G Cloud (Google Madrid, 2023)

The G Hack Hackathon, organized by Devoteam G Cloud at the Google offices in Madrid, is a high-level technical competition where teams tackle five key challenges in cloud solution development: Kubernetes & DevOps, Machine Learning, Data, Serverless, and Networking. The team “Los chicos de la FPU”, composed of Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez, Guillermo Tomás Fernández Martín, and Pablo Torrijos Arenas, was named the overall winner of the event.

2023 - Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez. 1st Prize, Doctoral Consortium – V Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (EVIA 2023)

The fifth edition of the Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (EVIA 2023), organized by the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA), provides a specialized forum for training and exchange among AI researchers in Spain. During the event held in Seville, Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez was awarded the 1st Prize of the Doctoral Consortium for his thesis project titled “Design of efficient and scalable algorithms for label ranking problems”. This recognition highlights the academic quality and the innovative impact of his research within the artificial intelligence community.

2024 - Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez. Best Paper Award – 27th International Conference on Discovery Science (DS 2024)

The 27th International Conference on Discovery Science (DS 2024) provides an open forum for intensive discussions and the exchange of new ideas among researchers working in the area of Discovery Science, focusing on AI methods in science. At this edition held in Pisa, Italy, the paper titled “MORE-PLR: Multi-Output Regression Employed for Partial Label Ranking”, authored by Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez, Viktor Bengs, and Santo Maria Amado Rocco Thies, was honored with the Best Paper Award (1st Prize) for its significant contribution to the development of scientific knowledge discovery and intelligent data analysis.

2023/2024 - Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez. Extraordinary Doctoral Award (Accessit) – University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, 2023–2024)

The International Doctoral School (EID) of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) grants the Extraordinary Doctoral Awards to recognize particularly meritorious theses that have achieved the highest academic marks and demonstrate outstanding scientific impact. Following the evaluation of research quality, scientific publications, and internationalization merits, Juan Carlos Alfaro Jiménez was honored with the Extraordinary Doctoral Award (Accessit) for the 2023–2024 academic year. This distinction acknowledges the excellence of his doctoral research within the Engineering and Architecture branch, meeting the rigorous standards of the university’s academic regulations.
